The Research & Development (R&D) Cell at Vardhaman College of Engineering (VCE) serves as the central institutional hub for promoting research excellence, innovation, and knowledge creation across the campus. The R&D Cell plays a pivotal role in aligning the institute’s research initiatives with VCE’s broader mission of Research excellence, technological advancement, and societal impact.
The Cell is responsible for formulating and implementing the institution’s strategic research plan, fostering a vibrant research ecosystem, and facilitating collaboration among faculty, students, research centers, and external partners. Through structured policies, institutional support mechanisms, and research capacity-building initiatives, the R&D Cell encourages faculty members and students to engage in high-quality, interdisciplinary, and socially relevant research.
To ensure effective governance, transparency, and quality assurance in research activities, the Research & Development (R&D) Cell at Vardhaman College of Engineering functions through a structured framework of specialized committees. These committees guide research planning, monitor progress, promote innovation, and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
The Research Advisory Board (RAB) serves as the apex body providing strategic direction for research and innovation activities within the institution. It plays a crucial role in defining the long-term research vision of the college and aligning institutional research priorities with emerging national and global technological trends.
To bring diverse expertise and external perspectives into the institution’s research ecosystem, the Board is constituted with distinguished external members from industry, reputed academic institutions, and leading research organizations, along with senior faculty representatives of the institute. The inclusion of these external experts enables the institution to benchmark its research activities against global standards, identify emerging research opportunities, strengthen industry–academia collaboration, and guide the development of impactful and application-oriented research programs.
Through periodic reviews and strategic recommendations, the Research Advisory Board supports the institution in enhancing the quality, relevance, and societal impact of research and innovation initiatives.
The Research Advisory Board (RAB) meets twice a year to review the institution’s research progress, evaluate ongoing research initiatives, and provide strategic recommendations for strengthening the research ecosystem. During these meetings, the Board assesses the effectiveness of research policies, reviews the status of funded projects, publications, patents, and collaborations, and suggests new research directions aligned with emerging technological trends and societal needs. The periodic meetings ensure continuous guidance from external experts and help the institution maintain high standards in research planning, innovation, and academic excellence.

The Research & Development Committee (RDC) is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and facilitating research activities across the institution. It ensures the effective implementation of institutional research policies and promotes active participation of faculty members and students in research projects, scholarly publications, and innovation-driven initiatives.
The committee is constituted with senior faculty members, departmental research coordinators, , ensuring effective coordination of research activities across the institute. This structure enables the committee to streamline communication between departments, monitor research progress, and support faculty members in undertaking research and consultancy projects.
Through regular meetings and coordinated efforts, the Research & Development Committee works to strengthen the institution’s research culture, enhance interdisciplinary collaborations, and ensure systematic implementation of research policies and initiatives across all departments.

Vardhaman Research Promotion Committee (VRPC) has a more specific operational role centered around seed funding (VRPS), proposal review, monitoring, and research encouragement. The Vardhaman Research Promotion Committee (VRPC) is responsible for promoting research activities within the institution through the implementation and monitoring of the Vardhaman Research Promotion Scheme (VRPS) and other internal research support initiatives.
A Research Ethics Committee also called an Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) or Institutional Review Board (IRB) is an independent body that reviews, approves, and monitors research involving human participants (and sometimes animals/data) to ensure it complies with ethical standards, legal regulations, and institutional policies. Its primary objective is to protect the rights, dignity, safety, and well-being of participants while enabling responsible research.
